We are building the new website for Illumiletter Wholesale Electric Signs in Yakima — a manufacturer that builds lit channel letters, cabinets, and blade signs for other sign companies across the Pacific Northwest. Before we write a line of code, every client sees style proofs. Here are the three we put in front of them.
A website argument is easier to have about a picture than a paragraph. So we build the same page three ways — same layout, same photographs, same words — and change only the colour and the type. When everything else is held still, the client can point at the one that feels like their business without having to explain why.
Each proof shows the three things that actually decide a site: a header with a call to action, a block of body copy long enough to judge the typeface as reading text, and a shop row — because this one is an online store, and products, prices, and an Add to cart button have to look right too.
